Ford F-150 vs Chevy Silverado 1500

  • Both lineups include six engine options, with V6, V8, and turbo diesel powertrain to choose from. While the Ford and Chevy trucks both employ a base V6 engine with similar engine output, you'll find that the F-150 offers the most powerful engine option with its High-Output 3.5-liter EcoBoost® setup. It produces 450 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque, easily more than any engine from the Silverado lineup.

  • Need diesel power? Both trucks offer it but if you're looking to tow heavy loads, you'll manage more with the Ford truck. Its diesel engine manages a maximum tow capacity of 11,500 pounds, while the Chevy's diesel engine doesn't hit 10,000 pounds.

  • The Ford's truck can haul plenty of supplies to the worksite, with a class-leading payload capacity of 3,270 pounds. This is over 1,000 pounds more than the Chevy truck can haul.

  • When you have a heavy trailer attached, it can be a pain to back it into its spot perfectly. Not so with the class-exclusive Pro Trailer Backup Assist™ feature, which allows you to control exactly which direction the trailer goes. You won't find this same feature on the Silverado truck.

  • Working at night can be tough, but the F-150 makes it easy with available LED lighting like LED box lighting, LED trailer hitch light, and a class-exclusive LED side-mirror spotlights to keep things illuminated. Chevy can't provide the same coverage.

  • The Ford's truck offers the Ford Co-Pilot360™ suite of driver assistance features available even at the base model. These include features like Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking and a Blind Spot Information System with Trailer Coverage. You might find similar features in the Chevy lineup, but you need to pay significantly more money to unlock them.
